What are the differences between the Premium Funded Account® and Funded Account®?

What is the Premium Funded Account®?

The Premium Funded Account is a live trading account with a starting balance equal to the simulated profits in your Pro Account™ ($5,000 for a standard Premium Funded Account® and $2,500 for a Swing Premium Funded Account). The Premium Funded Account will be unlocked once you have met the Pro Account targets without breaking any rules.

We will set up the Premium Funded Account with our brokerage partners. Your account will be set up on the same platform that you used in the Pro Account. Not sure what the Pro Account is? Review our Pro Account frequently asked questions page here.

Please note that the Pro Account and Premium Funded Account are not currently available on the TradeStation platform.

What is the Funded Account®?

The standard Funded Account is a live trading account that allows you to trade live markets backed by Topstep’s capital. The Funded Account has all the same account parameters as Step 2 of the Trading Combine®. Traders in this account will begin with a $0 balance.

What are the differences between the Premium Funded Account® and Funded Account®?

The most obvious difference is that the Premium Funded Account begins with a balance equal to the end balance of your Pro Account (maximum of either $5,000 or $2,500) and the Funded Account begins with a $0 balance.

There are also subtle differences between the Funded Account parameters and the Premium Funded Account parameters:

Daily Loss Limit

  • The Daily Loss Limit is the same in both the Premium Funded Account and the Funded Account during Step 2 of the Trading Combine for standard Futures accounts.
  • There is no Daily Loss Limit in the Swing Premium Funded Account or Swing Funded Account.

Weekly Loss Limit

  • The Weekly Loss Limit is not evaluated during the Premium Funded Account, as the Trailing Maximum Drawdown has already reached the original starting balance of $0 carried over from the Pro Account. The Weekly Loss Limit of the Funded Account is the same as Step 2 of the Trading Combine.
  • The Weekly Loss Limit in both the Swing Premium Funded Account and Swing Funded Account is $500, the same as during Step 2 of the Trading Combine.

(Trailing) Max Drawdown

  • The Trailing Max Drawdown of the Premium Funded Account is $0, carried over from the account balance high of the Pro Account. The Trailing Maximum Drawdown of the Funded Account is the same as during Step 2 of the Trading Combine.
  • The Max Drawdown of the Swing Premium Funded Account is $0. The Max Drawdown of the Swing Funded Account is the same as during Step 2 ($1,000).
